The Mayor of Massachusetts  in the United States, has honored young Ghanaian actor, Abraham Attah, for his excellence, and presented him [Abraham Attah] with the key to the city.

Abraham is currently on location in Atlanta, Georgia, shooting a movie, Sony-Marvel's upcoming 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' film.

The 15-year old, shot to prominence after being cast in the 'Beasts of No Nation' movie alongside celebrated Hollywood actor, Idris Elba. The movie has since won several awards both in Ghana and Europe.

The African Youth Excellence Awards took place in Worcester (Massachusetts).

At the ceremony, the Mayor of Massachusetts, Joseph M. Petty, presented the young actor with a key to the city.

The Mayor congratulated the Attah for his achievements in his acting career, and touted the inspiration that he (Attah) is to young people in a citation.

“Your award winning performance captivated world audiences; these profound strides serve as an inspiration for other young actors like you. You have a unique and bright future ahead of you,” the mayor said.

The African Youth Excellence Awards is one that highlights the accomplishments of young Africans who are making strides in art, education, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, and humanitarianism.

Undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas was also honored at the event.

More awards for Attah
Attah has already picked up the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor at Venice Film Festival 2015, and the “Rising Star Award” at the Black Film Critics Circle this past awards season.

He also won the Independent Spirit Award for “Best Male Lead” for his breakout performance as a child soldier in 'Beasts of No Nation'.

The 15-year-old in February this year, presented an award at the Oscars.
