Idris Elba’s latest movie, Bastille Day, has been pulled from cinemas in France in the wake of the deadly lorry attack in Nice.

More than 80 people died when a French-Tunisian man, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, drove a lorry into celebrating crowds on Thursday evening.

Elba’s film, which involves a terrorist plot to bomb Paris, was released in France on Wednesday.

Game Of Thrones actor Richard Madden also appears in the movie.

StudioCanal pulled adverts for Bastille Day a day after the attack and have now asked cinemas to stop showing it altogether, according to Variety.

What is Bastille Day?

It’s not the first time this particular film’s release has been affected by attacks like the one in Nice.

Its release dates in the UK and Germany were delayed in the aftermath of the Paris attacks.

What has happened in Nice has had an impact on other events too.

Rihanna cancelled a show in the city following the attack on Bastille Day.

The singer’s representatives revealed that she was “safe” despite being in the city when the recent attack happened.

The city’s jazz festival was also cancelled and production on the Fifty Shades sequel, Fifty Shades Darker had been taking place in the city.

Film bosses confirmed cast and crew – including stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan – were safe and accounted for.
