UTV’s Simply Maria Attracts Large Audience

One of Ghana's leading television stations, United Television (UTV), has started showing the much-hyped telenovela series titled Simply Maria on weekends.

The introduction of the new television series, according to the management of the station, has increased the station's viewership, and it is currently receiving great reviews from a large number of telenovela lovers.

“After the introduction of the series, a number television viewers have called to congratulate us for introducing such an educative and entertaining programme on UTV,” a source close to UTV's management told BEATWAVES yesterday.

Simply Maria is a Mexican Twi-novela produced by Ignacio Sada for Televisa in 1989, and some of the cast in the series include Claudia Alvarez as Maria, Jose Ron as Alejandro and Ferdinando Valencia as Cristobal.

The source further told BEATWAVES that the television series is one of the exciting, educative and informative telenovelas that the station has introduced to entertain its cherished viewers.

He said as part of efforts to satisfy the needs of UTV viewers in the country, the station will soon introduce three more telenovela series translated in Twi language to meet the demand of its viewers.

In a related development, UTV has earned a nomination at the City People Awards in the TV Station With Best Showbiz Content Award (Ghana) category.
