It’s Nana Aba On 'State Of Affairs'

It’s been barely four months since Nana Aba Anamoah started hosting State of Affairs on GhOne TV and already, it is receiving great reviews.

In a recent survey, the programme came second among the top seven programmes influencing Ghana’s 2016 elections.

Nana Aba told Showbiz last Tuesday that State of Affairs, which airs from Mondays to Fridays at 7 p.m., is an evening political talk show.

“It’s basically to get people talking, we give people the chance to contribute. Social media is a big issue so far as the show is concerned and we talk about everything politics.”

Though State of Affairs is just four months old, feedback, according to Nana Aba, has been very good.

“We’ve had very good feedback from all over; on Fridays we have the ‘Constituency Watch’ where candidates in a particular constituency come in to debate and tell the constituents why they should vote for them, we give a fair advantage to all the candidates,” she said.

Nana Aba said that segment of the programme has caught up very well with viewers. She added that she has been accused of paying too much attention to the Greater Accra Region but the programme has always found a way to resolve that challenge to ensure that all candidates get a fair advantage.

Thursdays, Nana Aba said, is dedicated to business issues and is presented by Kweku Temeng.

There have been many great guests on the show and Nana Aba says her most exciting guest has been former President Jerry John Rawlings who granted her a 30-minute interview “That has been my most exciting guest, I enjoyed every bit of the interview,” she said.

Asked if it was difficult to get people on the show, Nana Aba answered in the negative, “it is not difficult to get people on the show, there is always someone on stand-by, the politicians didn’t know about GhOne because the station was known for entertainment but when they come on the show, the feedback they get tells them that a lot of people watch the show”.

Nana Aba had a huge following on TV3 so Showbiz asked her if she still has that following: “Whoever follows me loves me, they don’t stop following me so wherever I go, they move with me,” she said.

On the future of State of Affairs, Nana Aba said, “it is going to be bigger than it is now but the political angle will always be there.

Nana Aba expressed her genuine gratitude to her viewers saying, “If you have sent us something we haven’t looked at, we apologise. We will certainly take a look at it, thank you so much for your support.”
