The 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Reggae Dancehall Artiste of The Year, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known in Showbiz as Stonebwoy, has urged fellow musicians and the general public to rally behind Mzvee to enable her to win the Best International Act (Africa) in the upcoming BET Awards.

Mzvee has been nominated in the Best International Act (Africa) category of the awards for the 2016 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards which is slated for Sunday, June 26 at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, USA.

Mzvee is the only Ghanaian artiste nominated for this year's BET Awards and the first ever female artiste from Ghana to be nominated.

Stonebwoy, who won in that same category last year, beating Sarkodie and other African musicians, expressed his joy for Mzvee on her nomination during an interview on Peace FM's Entertainment Review Show last Saturday.

This is Mzvee's second nomination for the awards; she was nominated for the Best International Artist Viewers' Choice Award in last year's awards. She lost out to Eddy Kenzo of Uganda.

The 'Natural Girl' hit singer will face stiff competition from some of Africa's biggest acts for the award this year.

.
Also nominated in that category are Wizkid (Nigeria), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Serge Beynaud (Côte d'Ivoire), AKA (South Africa), Black Coffee (South Africa) and Cassper Nyovest (South Africa).

Soon after the nominees were announced, Mzvee told Jeremie on Live FM that “I'm really excited. I'm restless, it's amazing. I'm just running all over in the house. I think it's just the beginning of female musicians in Ghana. I'm the first female musician from Ghana to represent in the BETs.”

She continued… “I'm extremely thankful to my fans. They are amazing, my head is big already.”

In a related development, MzVee has announced her plans to put on hold her schooling at the Ghana Telecom University College in Accra.

Speaking on Joy FM last Saturday, the 2016 BET nominee says one of the reasons for taking that decision was that “lecturers mark me down” as they assume she does not have enough time for her education because of her music career.
