A three-member group, Central AG Band, on Monday beat seven other contestants to win the 2016 edition of TV3's Talented Kidz.

The group, made up of three boys from Ashaiman, performed Shatta Wale's Kakai and Stonebwoy's Go Higher, among other songs, to grab a slim victory.

They took home a GH₵10,000 cash prize, GH₵6000 endowment fund, a tablet, books and other souvenirs from sponsors.

The Talented Kidz grand finale was held at the National Theatre in Accra. It attracted a large number of children from various parts of the country, who came to witness and support performances that night.

The evening started with interesting performances from all eight finalists, including Louisa Robertson, Abraham Quaye, Central AG Band, Kidie Royal Band, Action Boys, Winston Jojo Danquah, Unique Dancers and Kurt Ansah Frimpong. They each demonstrated unique skills for the ultimate position.

But only four of them made it to the final lap of the finale. They included Winston Jojo, the Action Boys, Kidie Royal Band and Central AG Band.

After the last round of performances, Central AG Band was adjudged winner.

Some TV viewers felt Action Boys, who wowed the vociferous crowd with a play about peace and unity, should have won.  But they were adjudged first runner-up and took home an GH₵ 8,000 cash prize, a tablet, certificate, plaque and souvenirs from sponsors.

Jojo and Kidie Royal Band came second and third runners-up respectively. They each took GH₵7,000 and GH₵6,000 cash prizes respectively, in addition to tablets, certificates, plaques and souvenirs from sponsors.

Kidie Royal Band's leader also won the youngest discovered talent of the reality show.

The 2016 Talented Kidz was organised by TV3. Contestants were picked from all ten regions and were put into 28 different groups. The best survived evictions over the last 13 weeks.

The event was hosted by Jozy with music performances from Nero X. Among personalities in attendance were 2014 Ghana's Most Beautiful, Baci and SP Kofi Sarpong.
