A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), First Page Foundation (FPF), is embarking on a special project to promote peace in the country as Ghana prepares for general elections in November.

According to the president of FPF, Apostle Collins Obeng-Agyare, the peace project, dubbed, “Promoting Peace Through Entertainment” is aimed at mobilizing Ghanaians in and outside the country to protect the nation’s God-given peace and stability ahead of the elections.

At a press briefing in Accra to announce the project, Mr. Obeng-Agyare disclosed that as part of the initiative, a single track album by Gospel Songstress, Madam Vivian Sam, the Foundation’s Peace Ambassador, entitled ‘Ghana Montie’ (Ghana, Listen) has been adopted by the foundation for this year’s peace tour.

The musical tour would bring together other musicians like Superintendent Kofi Sarpong, Hannah Marfo, Joyce Blessing, Bernice Offei and would involve concerts in Accra, Kumasi, United Kingdom, US, Canada and Italy.

Mr. Agyare explained that the rationale behind organizing the concerts outside Ghana was to call on Ghanaians in the diaspora to prevail on their relatives in Ghana to desist from engaging in acts that would disrupt the peace in the country.

“We are aware of the influence Ghanaians in Europe and the Americas have over their relatives and loved ones living in the country; so we want that influence to be brought to bear on Ghanaians living here and that is one of the reasons we are taking the project to Ghanaian communities in the diaspora,” Mr. Agyare clarified.

The Foundation is calling for support and sponsorship from various institutions, corporate bodies and individuals to actualize this project expected to promote peace in Ghana before, during and after the 2016 elections.

Madam Vivian Sam, the foundation’s Peace Ambassador, called on Ghanaians to jealously protect the nation’s treasure by desisting from any act that would jeopardize the nation’s peace.

In 2013 the Foundation started the ‘Kente and Batakari’ day project which saw King Ayisoba, the King of Kologo music promoting the traditional wears in Ghana.

It proposed for consideration May 12 every year as Kente and Batakari Day, a day set aside for all Ghanaians to wear the local attire to promote its sales and increase employment in the industry.
