Grace Ashly Gives Free Education To 300 Pupils

Over the years, Gospel songstress, Grace Ashly has taken the initiative to sponsor three hundred (300) brilliant but needy pupils with free education.

Known for her cheer songs for the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, in an interview with Pluzz FM on Wednesday, she noted that though it back-breaking for a gospel musician to start a project without taking a dime from recipients she (Grace Ashly) has admitted students over decades for free in her institution.

Obaa Yaa who disclosed to Pluzz FM the name of her school which is Ghana Child Academy (GhaCA) is a non-governmental organisation instituted in 2006 offering free education to children of school going age from Nursery to Junior High Level.

According to her, the reason for her free education project was inspired through her small effort to curb the high rate of breeding of drug addicts, armed robbery, child truancy and stigmatization in the country.

“I really need assistance because things are speeding up in terms of the number of students being admitted. Parents feel worry when their kids are rejected admission into the school due to unavailability of classrooms.

“The school has chalked so many successes in the previous years with most of the students being awarded scholarships in their second cycle institutions and tertiary levels respectively.”

The school which is situated at Ablekuma – Agape (Accra), is set to initiate a program in February, 2016 to seek for support from corporate to finish with the uncompleted classrooms in order to admit more students.
