It’s lonely at the top, at least when you are a principled female popstar. For while her male peers are congratulated for their bed-hopping, Rihanna has revealed that she remains all but celibate, despite numerous reports to the contrary.

'I haven’t been having sex or even really seeing anybody,' she tells Vanity Fair, in her cover interview for the November issue.

And she explains: “I don’t want to wake up the next day feeling guilty. I mean I get horny, I’m human, I’m a woman, and I want to have sex.

But what am I going to do - just find the first random cute dude that I think is going to be a great ride for the night and then tomorrow I wake up feeling empty and hollow?”

Of course, there are plenty of men who would love nothing more than a night with Rihanna, were she so inclined.

But the 27-year-old does not allow the easiness of acquiring a lover to influence her, saying she would 'feel like s**t' if she did.

“He has a great story and I’m like … what am I doing? I can’t do it to myself. I cannot. It has a little bit to do with fame and a lot to do with the woman that I am. And that saves me.”

The Barbadian has been linked to numerous men since her break-up from boyfriend Chris Brown, who she last dated briefly in 2013, four years after he was arrested for assaulting her.

She also dated baseball player Matt Kemp, and since the interview took place earlier this year has begun a relationship with rapper Travis Scott - with whom she was photographed at a sporting event in Paris on Monday.

But the Diamond singer claims the frequent reports of her love life are rarely true.

“Some guys... I don't even have their number. You would not even believe it,” she said.

'I'm serious, hand to God.'
Among the many men she has been reported to be dating are reality star Rob Kardashian, actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell and Ashton Kutcher, racing driver Lewis Hamilton and singer Asap Rocky.

Rihanna says she has old-fashioned standards - and wants a man who will treat her with respect in the most traditional of ways.

Men are afraid to be men,' she insists. “They think that being a real man is pussy, that if you take a chair out for a lady, or you're nice or even affectionate to your girl in front of your boys, you're less of a man.

'They won't be a gentleman because that makes them appear soft... Girls are settling for that, but I won't.”

Rihanna admits her tough stance is not an easy one: “It is lonely, but I have so much work to do that I get distracted.”
