OCT 6, 2015 LISTEN

It was meant to be a teaser for what will be a thoroughly exciting Old Skuuls Reunion on Saturday but old students from Unity Hall gave just more than a teaser during their studio appearance on Tuesday night.

Conti power they call them, turned the precincts of Joy FM into a charged arena and serenaded listeners with bouts of profane-free-jama for several minutes and later took the jama to the streets.

It was a well coordinated; well rehearsed masterstroke from the skilled men called into a jama trade that never pays in cash but always provides an excitement like no other activity would.

One after the other, they released the songs, clapped and drummed along in a way that brought great memories of old lingering.

It was exciting listening, infectious and quite fascinating to watch them in their elements dishing the songs like supper and wetting the appetite of listeners for a much bigger lunch on Saturday.

And if Conti power served a delicacy to the fanatic jama apostles on the night, Manya Krobo did a mid-tempo job with their brand of gospel jama that resonated with all.

If the two performances on the night and that of Africa Hall is anything to go by then Saturday will be more than just a reunion at the Independence Square. It will be a festival.

Sponsored by Tigo 'You For Know' the 2015 Annual Joy FM Old Skuuls Reunion promises to be a cocktail of jama singing competition, eating competition, networking, musical performances and any other thing the Mutombos, the Senior Atiikpanyas, the Donziggys, the agblizaas did when they attended the old toms, the bleoos, the pojobas only to mention but a few.

Be there on Saturday.
