UK-based Ghanaian reggae musician General Marcus has disclosed that he put his music career on hold to pursue other business interests in the UK because Disc Jockeys (DJs) in Ghana refused to play his songs.

General Marcus took a break from the music scene years ago and returned in 2006 to promote a new album which was never successful and according to him, this was because Djs refused to play his songs.

He gained recognition in the mid-nineties with his Jamaican fused with Ghanaian language style of music.

"I recorded an album in 2006 and I brought it to Ghana trying to promote it and then I realize I had to spend so much money for radio stations to play it, that is another reason why I decided to leave this place because I've spent a lot of money".

The former member of the Kente band and the 'Me di wakyi da' singer was speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM's Showbiz Fylla with Amanda Jissih from his base in the UK.

He, however, noted that the Ghanaian music industry has become very vibrant and he would love to record a song with Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Kwabena Kwabena.
