Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, known in real life as Livingstone Etse Satekla, is forever grateful to President John Mahama for loving his songs.

The musician, who was crowned the Best International Act: Africa at the 2015 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards, says he is humbled to be on the president’s favourite list.

President Mahama disclosed during an interview on Uniiq FM Wednesday as part of activities to mark World Youth Day, that Stonebwoy is one of his favourite musicians currently in the country.

The president, who says he loves Ghanaian music and movies, listens to Stonebwoy’s music and he is fond of two particular songs, ‘Sheekena’ and ‘Baafira’.

Stonebwoy, who was adjudged Artiste of the Year at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, was on a list of Ghanaian musicians, mostly old school artistes, the president confessed that he listens to.

Artistes who made it onto the president’s favourite list include Gyadu Blay-Ambolley, Shasha Marley and Kojo Antwi.

“I like a lot of the old artistes, of course Kojo Antwi continues to be my favourite. I like Gyedu Blay-Ambolley, KK Kabobo. I like the young ones too, I listen to some of the old ones like Shasha Marley, Wutah, VIP. But recently I listen to Stonebwoy, I think he's got a good hit with Shikina and Baafira, that’s also a good one. I like Ghanaian music so I listen to most of our artistes,” the president said.

Reacting to the president’s revelation, the dancehall artiste posted on social media handles – Twitter, Facebook and Instagram - that, “President of the Republic of Ghana Speaks!! #Baafira #Sheekena #GoHigher

BHIM is A Nation!!! #EverHumbled
#AllDuesPaidAndOver
#RIPMAMA”
Conspicuously missing from the president’s favourite list were two of the country’s biggest acts, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale.
