The Legendary R&B crooner QWECi has once again expressed his opinion on the state of R&B music in Ghana, calling it an unappreciated genre in the industry.

In QWECi's own words in a conversation with GeorgeBritton.com at the Blow Music Studios ; ' it is very sad how a genre that can also uplift the image the of our industry and help push it to higher heights is looked down on.

When the late KK DUAH released my first single 'Yebesa' which is R&B made in Ghana (Afro R&B), it broke the boundary from the then relevant form of music Highlife, to a genre that accepted by the youth and the adult music lovers.

People keep saying it went down when I left GH but that is just not true because we had other great acts like my brother Chico Dawuni and others who came after me to release some really good music.

The R&B genre has massive audience but the industry does nothing to help push this genre meanwhile there are R&B acts who have paid their dues with music but Musiga itself does not even recognize R&B as a viable genre. I remember at numerous events I've asked my R&B genre is not categorized and the only answer I get is, 'oh GH does not have a lot of act for the genre that's why'. Really?

We have Jon Germaine, Chase, Chemphe, Adina and a whole lot who do good music but are less appreciated which leaves most feeling reluctant to do music, not forgetting the talent that are pushing to come out but afraid due to the state of interest for the R&B genre.

I believe every industry needs all genres to grow. Let's push our own.

I also will like to reach out to all the R&B acts coming up to reach out as we may be of resource to our ourselves. Let's do more for us. Let's push R&B.
