The much-talked about 'Amakye Dede Challenge Cup' tournament was launched amid pomp and pageantry at Asante Akyem Agogo, the hometown of Amakye Dede, last Thursday.

At the launch, Amakye Dede, also known as Iron Boy, presented sports jerseys and other materials worth thousands of Ghana cedis to the participating schools. The items include four set of jerseys, footballs, gloves, captains' arm bands, pole nets, among others.

The annual tournament is being instituted to help maintain the legacy of Abrantee Amakye Dede, who without doubt, is one of Ghana's all time best musicians.

Amakye Dede, who is a staunch football lover, is also sponsoring the tournament to help unearth young and fresh football talents at Agogo who could rise to become future world stars to bring honour to mother Ghana.

In his remark, Amakye Dede charged all natives of Asante Akyem Agogo to come together to help unearth and develop the talents of the youth in the town.

He stated that 'though I am a musician, I am a passionate follower of football and I have discovered over the years that this town has a lot of football talents who must be helped to realise their capabilities.'

Chairman for the occasion, Mr S.K. Boafo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of S.K Boafo Travel and Tours, urged pastors, imams and chiefs in the area to support Abrantie Amakye Dede with fervent prayers over the good works that he had started.
