The 34th Edition of “Fete de la Musique” (World Music Day) will be celebrated in Ghana at Alliance Francaise Accra, on Sunday 21st June 2015 from 2pm-9pm with emphasis on reggae and healthy living. The celebration guarantees a family day of fun with open mic’ session, special activities for kids, with vendors displaying various goods. World Music Day is a connected set of free public events which takes place each year on the 21st June.

World Music Day celebrates live music and highlights the breadth and diversity of musical practices, and all musical genres. Last year’s edition of ‘Fête de la Musique’ at Alliance Française Accra saw a breath-taking performance by Akwaaba Sound System, who set the venue ablaze with a cocktail of activities. DJs B Brave, Just-Ice and Mineral paired up with MC Steloo as well as percussionists and acrobatic dancers, treating the audience to a variety of music styles ranging from highlife to Zouglou, Ndombolo and Afrohouse.

For this year’s celebration at Alliance Francaise Accra, some great reggae artistes will thrill audiences with great tunes. There will be eco-friendly products for sale, fun activities for kids such as face painting, magic balloon, candy floss and bouncing castle. An open mic session will take place between 4 and 6pm followed by a live reggae concert from 7pm to 9pm with Ras Caleb, Lord Caliba and Seyram.

The event originated in France in 1982, and since then has been celebrated yearly throughout the world. All concerts and events are free, accessible to the public and open to all musicians, whether amateur or professional. The musicians are invited to perform for free and all events are free to the public.
