Ghanaian actor Van Vicker, one of the celebrities at a vigil to protest the power crisis, has explained that he shed tears at the event because of the havoc the crisis is causing his in his life.

He said reminiscing on the negative toll the crisis is having on his, family and Ghanaians at large, made him cry during his speech at the #dumsormuststop vigil last Saturday.

Thousands of Ghanaians poured onto the streets – from Legon old gate to the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange – Saturday to join celebrities Yvonne Nelson, Van Vicker, Prince David Osei, Barimah Sydney and others, to protest and press on the government to solve the crisis.

The actor explained that, “I cried at the vigil because... I am fed up with dumsor running my life. I don’t see why there has [to] be an accident because the traffic light doesn’t work.

“I don’t see why my small cash I have I [should] use it to buy a generator when I have [school] fees to pay. I am tired explaining to my kids why there is dumsor.”

Van Vicker lamented that, he does not see the reason “why [people] [should] die at the hospitals or not get treatment because dumsor says so. I don't see [why] because of dumsor babies have [to] have heat rashes all over them.”

The actor, who was clearly fed up with the situation, said he does his want his life to revolve around dumsor. “I don't want dumsor [dictating] to me; what to do and when to do it. I am tired of calling friends b4 I visit to see if they have lights or not.”

He concluded that, he was touched by huge number of people who showed up at the vigil adding that it truly showed that people are in pains because of the power crisis.
