Winner for Miss Malaika 2014, Eirene Binabiba is set to launch a hand wash sanitation project dubbed ‘Miss Malaika Hand Wash Campaign’ aimed at preventing the immense spread of cholera pandemic in the country through hand washing.

In an interview with Cypress Ghana, Miss Eirene said; children are vulnerable and are most affected with diseases; hence the hand wash sanitation campaign is targeted at children between the ages of 5 and 15 to educate them on the basic sanitation ethics.

The campaign is expected to benefit seventeen basic schools in Accra and it will commence on Thursday, 14 May at Daras School Limited at Teshie for the grand launch.

Schools selected will experience the basic techniques in safe hand washing and good sanitation practices which will guide them stay strong and healthy. Each school will also be given free hand sanitizers, dustbins, brooms, soaps, wiping towels, boxes of drinking water and a certificate of participation.

Last December, the 20 year old student of the University of Ghana desire to put smiles on the faces the Ghanaian child, pressed her to organise a Christmas party for the sick children at the Korle Bu hospital who couldn’t join their friends at home to celebrate the festive season.

Recalling the challenges she faced in organizing the sanitation hand wash project to David Pablo of Cypress Ghana, Miss Eirene hinted that, “some companies turned down my sponsorship letter and for now I’m depending on the money my crew and I raised from a three day fund raiser at three different shopping malls in Accra; Accra Mall, Westhills, and Nungua – Junction shopping Mall”

She therefore made a passionate appeal to the government, private companies, and the general public to come and support her dreams to prevent the spread of diseases especially cholera in the country.
