Dancehall Artists Should Be Careful - Daasebre Gyamenah

Controversy between Samini & Shatta wale pertaining to who really the best dancehall artist is has been unraveling for some years now. In the early 2000, Daasebre Gyamenah was arguably the most successful highlife artist. His maiden " Kokooko " song served as a breakthrough for Lord Kenya; a hiplife great who is now an Evangelist.

Daasebre Gyamenah like Gyedu Blay Ambulley a highlife great has also expressed his misgivings concerning the current trend of dancehall music in Ghana. Ambulley focused on the way Ghanaian dancehall artists infuse the Jamaican " Patoa " language in their songs instead of using our local dialects.

But speaking to Dj Murphy Lee the host of Entertainment Extra on Storm Fm 101.9 mhz , a locally based radio station in Sunyani on phone from his based in Canada concerning his new album titled 'Yen Fi Ta' & the aftermath of the VGMA, Daasebre also focused on their lyrics.

"MMM!!! It's a new revolution. Sentimentally, they're doing well but they need to be a little bit careful. Most of their lyrics contains harsh words which are not conducive for children." He told Murphy after he was asked about his view pertaining to the current trend of dancehall music.

Dj Murphy Lee, throwing more lights into the aftermath of the VGMA, asked Daasebre about his assertion on Stonebwoy a dancehall artist for winning the coveted artiste of the year award?

"Ohh!! Dancehall...Samini is my favourite dancehall artiste. His lyrics are decent...Stonebwoy I don't know when he came & I have not listened to his music myself." He cheekily answered Murphy.

Daasebre still believes his songs surpasses all the songs which are being awarded lately. He reiterated that people lobby in other to win awards. To him Daddy Lumba winning the highlife artiste of the year really deserved it.
