Meet Sista Afia - Ghana's Next Highlife Queen

Sista Afia is a new name in the High-Life game, however, shades of doubt surrounding claim her to be the biggest female highlife artiste in Ghana - and this comes against the backdrop of Paulina Oduro's inconspicuousness.

Technically, there are no more female musicians in the HighLife game since the likes of Efya and Irene Logan are known for the RnB/Afro Pop category, while Becca is satisfied with her own style. As well as MzVee, Kaakie, Ak Songstress, Abrewa Nana are busily fighting for the Dancehall throne. Eno and her disciples are no where closer to the formidable highlife world in this context. Etc.

This leaves us with just Sista Afia as the one female in a male-dominated genre down here. But how consistent will she be? How much a singer is she really? Has she done enough to be labeled a highlife musician? We should answer these so it serves as a proper basis for the succeeding discourse on here.

Sista Afia has worked with a lot of great artistes and has shone through in features since the start of her career. And despite the nature of the Ghanaian music scene, she will manage to stay afloat the scheme of things, wade through the complexities of the game, survive the gender-biased nature of everything and hold her own through the varied stages of her progression. Weeks after getting on the same label with the Atomesu hit-maker, Sista Afia is ready to release her new single which features Bisa Kdei.

Her first music project in Ghana with Bisa Kdei leaves a lot to be desired, and to make her repertoire somewhat complete.

With the obstacles and sabotage she will be facing as a new face in the Highlife game, Sista Afia has no choice but to get down to brass tacks, specifically in respect to delivering a full length project; a new single which is titled Krokro Mi.

Krorko Mi translated to English means Pamper Me and will be released on all media platforms soon. We stay fingers crossed for this one.
