Artist: Most Media Promote Mediocre

The media is the fourth most powerful institution, also we are what we read, watch and listen to and the citizen depends on radio for the truth so if radio keeps feeding them with garbage you should expect nothing but garbage out. We have a lot of good artist in Ghana but because the Djs prefer to promote mediocre songs those artist turn to play to that gallery.

An artist spends his time to think and create a masterpiece and when he sends it to a dj he just puts it aside but when the same artist puts together 2 or 3 profane words as a chorus and repeats it throughout the song the same dj will play it back to back. Now when the djs keeps feeding the people with such garbage the people then tend to believe that as the best. the effect of such behavior is that when those songs are sent to compete with music outside our borders they fail abysmally.

1. The music doesn't make sense
2. There is no creativity to be identified.
3. The quality is nothing to write home about.

Some djs sit here and play davido and wizkid for free yet when the local artist send their songs to them they demand huge sums of money and still do not play, well that is a discussion for another day. We have artist like Rocky Dawuni who recently had an interview on cnn and co who are doing so well across the world yet you hardly hear their music on our airwaves, are they not Ghanaians?

There should be that conscious effort to help our young talent who make sensible music rather than promoting mediocre.
