All Set For Prima Academy Multicultural Day

On Thursday, April 2, a special programme with the sole objective of promoting rich cultural values among children is expected to rock Prima Academy, Tabora in Accra.

Themed 'Celebrating Culture: Our Proud Heritage', the biennial event would see the children perform traditional rites as kpojiemo, bragoro, dipo, among others, amid drumming and dancing.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Prima Academy, Aisha Asi Akrofi, in an interview said, 'We have realised that most children in Ghana, especially in the capital have lost touch with their cultural heritage, hence the institution of this programme which we have termed as a multi-cultural day.

'The main aim is to promote, celebrate and appreciate our rich culture. There will be exhibition of traditional foods of all the regions in the country as well as continental.'

According to the CEO, special prizes are at stake for the best traditional dressed parents, students and staff and also for the various performances from the regions.

Expected to grace the event are  MP for Anyaa Sowutuom, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; Naana Adu Akrofi I, queen mother of Matsekope Traditional Area(Ada); Efua, Ghana's Most Beautiful (Eastern Region- 2012); Chief Alidu Giwa, Mamprusi chief (Lapaz-Achimota); Sadiki Galba Samoro, Zongo chief of Trobo; Sir Sam, assembly man of Nii Okaiman West and other traditional representatives.
