General News I've always dreamt of being a newscaster - Dep. Finance Minister
DEC 22, 2014 LISTEN

Deputy Minister for Finance, Mrs. Mona Helen Quartey has had her childhood dream finally come true.

As a child, she had always dreamt of being a newscaster and Joy FM made it a reality, Monday morning.

The Deputy Minister for Finance left her office desk at the Ministries to take up the mantle of presenting the Joy Business Report at 8 and yes she delivered.

Her six-minute news presentation was apt. A first-time listener will mistake her for a newscaster but not one of the persons in charge of the nation's finances.

After that sterling performance, host of the Morning Show, Kojo Yankson commented, “Wow Mona I am impressed,” and quizzed, “Do you do this on weekends?”

Mona responded, “No but I've always dreamed of being a news reader when I was a child.”

Mona before assuming office as Deputy Minister for Finance served as a Partner at BVM Advisory Services.

She has broad treasury, risk management and corporate finance experience in the private and public sectors. Mrs. Quartey also previously worked with Citibank NA, and Citi Corp. Investment Services, all in Maryland USA.

Some other prominent institutions she worked with include American Express Financial Advisors in Columbia, AshantiGold Company Limited, and Ecobank Ghana. She has also been a Non-Executive Director of Merchant Bank (Ghana).
