Ghanaian rapper, Desmond Blackmore, known on stage as D-Black, after the successes chalked up by his first movie, has promised to release a new movie every year.

The award winning musician last Friday premiered his first ever directed and produced movie, 'Why Should I Get Married' at the Silverbird Cinemas.

The movie stars some of the biggest names in Ghanaian movies and music including D-Black himself, John Dumelo, Efya, Reggie Rockstone, Prince David Osei, D-Black, E.L, Funny Face, and Belinda Dzattah.

The premiere was attended by scores of movie lovers, who filled every inch of space at the Silverbird Cinema. Known faces at the premiere included some of the cast, actress Vivian Achor and musician Itz Tiffany.

An elated D-Black speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the premiere, said he was impressed with the outcome of the premiere and plans are far advanced to make it an annual affair.

According to him, “the reception was incredible. I don't really care if I make profit or not but by the look of things we have already made our profits. This is something that I'm sure we will do once a year.”

The rapper, known for several hit songs including 'Vera', revealed that he is not new to movies as he studied Theatre Arts and Music at the University of Ghana in 2008.

“That's what I studied in the university six years ago so I've always wanted to do something like that but music which was a hobby at the time took centre stage and I have been making music for the past five years so I felt like this is the right time to infuse both music and film into one big melting pot,” D-Black revealed.

He said he is delighted by the fact he managed to bring “so many people in one movie to make it an incredible one. I trust the movie [and] the cast in the movie, everybody in fact, was on point.”

The rapper also premiered 'Why Should I Get Married' in Kumasi on Saturday.

He is expected to also premiere it in Sunyani, Canada, UK, US and Amsterdam between now and February 2015.
