Who Becomes Miss Malaika 2014?

By the close of day tomorrow, Saturday, November 1, at the National Theatre in Accra, Ghana and the world would be presented with a new Miss Malaika to succeed Naa Oyoe Quartey, Miss Malaika 2013.

There are ten pretty and brainy ladies competing to be crowned Miss Malaika 2014 and one of them would be getting the crown, cash and car at stake.

The 2013 winner, Naa Oyoe, as part of her price package had a cash amount of GH¢6,000, a brand new KIA Saloon car, beauty products, wardrobe and other souvenirs from the sponsors.

Organiser of the pageant, Charter House, has given full assurance that this year's event would be the best over the years and has confirmed some of Ghana's best musicians, including Edem, E.L and Sexy MizVee, would be performing.

 
Below is a brief profile of each of the ten finalists.

 
IVY BAFFOUR GYAN
Ivy is 21 years old and a level 400 student of the University of Ghana, studying Finance. She loves country and live band music, swimming and horseback riding.  She is adventurous and believes that one is more successful when he or she works for himself/herself.

 
EIRENE  NSUDOON BINABIBI
Eirene is a student of the University of Ghana.  She is a talented young lady who is inspired to reach for greater heights. Eirene is also passionate about musical instruments, especially the piano and bass guitar. She is compassionate, intelligent and hardworking.

 
STEPHANIE POKU AGEMANG
She is a final year Economics student of Central University.  She loves her morning runs, which help her stay in shape and keep her healthy as well. Her mother is her role model because she has not met another woman like her type. 'We wake up every day with new hope because mom inspires us all the way,' Stephanie said.

 
SHARON DAVIDOR
She is 18 years old and a graduate of Wesley Girls High School and aspiring to be a medical doctor as well as the next Malaika queen.  Sharon is a friendly, strong and determined young lady striving to be the best in all she does. She loves to swim, play basketball and help the less fortunate in whatever way she can.  Her life philosophy is, 'if opportunity doesn't knock, build a door'.

 
CYNTHIA OSEI
Cynthia is a 19-year-old student of Ghana Technology University College, where she is studying Business Administration. She loves designing, sewing and swimming. Her role model is her mother, Georgina Osei. Her favourite quote in life is, “All things shall fall in place if you believe in God and yourself.” She would love to be a fashion designer in future because fashion speaks a lot about a person and will also like to bring out many wonderful ideas.

 
KATHLENE ANNAN
Kathleen Annan, 19 years, is a student of the University of Ghana. She loves swimming, watching movies and hanging out with friends. She looks up to Oprah Winfrey as a woman and wishes to help people in society. She sees herself as a fashion icon and wishes to become an ambassador of goodwill to others, as well as a role model of faith and good works.

 
WILHEMINA BUADIE KWOFIE
She is 20 years old and a student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism. She loves travelling, taking pictures and watching movies. Her role models are her dad, Jessica Opare Saforo ( Citi FM ), Kofi Annan (Former UN Secretary General), Oprah Winfrey and Jay Foley ( 4Syte TV ).

 
JOYCE MAMLE AYEH
Joyce is 19 and hails from Odumasi-krobo in the Eastern Region.  Her personal motto comes from her mother, which says, 'never do what pleases the eyes but the heart.' And her favourite quote is, 'it's better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.'

 
ANITA OSEI
Anita is 21 years old, a purpose-driven young woman, an old student of Wesley Girls School, and now reading Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

 
ANN AKUA AKUFFO
Ann is 21 years and a second year student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). She is reading Communication Studies and specialising in Journalism. She admires Shirley Frimpong Manso, Kwame Sefa Kayi and Nana Aba Anamoah. She believes that with her dream of becoming an egalitarian journalist and lawyer, Miss Malaika is the best platform to kick start her journey to greatness.
