Hiplife News Meet Kati G. Ghanas Answer And Solution To Better Afrobeats And RB Music
OCT 29, 2014 LISTEN

Other than the typical forbidden love music videos based on interracial relationships, tribal prejudice, and the so called infamous love story of Romeo and Juliet, Kati G has taken the topic of forbidden love into another level, a different point of view, and tagging it to the controversial reality of a universal argument. Her music video can be compared to past movie's such as: John Dumelo's movie, "Men In Love," which featured scenes where top Enugu-based actor Muna Obiekwe is romancing and hitting the back side of Ghana top actor John Dumelo who is facing down on the bed without any string of inner wears, displaying a homosexuality relationship throughout the movie. Another example would be Juliet Ibrahim lustfully playing a lesbian role as she kisses Niki Samonas, whilst Eddie Nartey played a gay role with his partner being George Dickman in the 2013 movie, titled, "Rain."

Kati G's video tells the story of forbidden love from a different angle. She makes you believe that a man and women desire a relationship together and because of certain circumstances, they can't be together. At the end of the music video you realize it's not just a typical music video, it makes you see into the lives of other lifestyles in forbidden love situations. I must say it was a creative point of view and not the common one.

Kati G has stated that she wants to create music videos based on reality and what is happening in homes around the world and in our homes right here in Ghana. She says she is not promoting lesbisim, she is simply telling a story in relation to the song with a different approach and not the same old idea everyone else uses. She has also stated, "Many of my friends have reached out to me confidentially confessing their thoughts of committing suicide or struggling with being what society considers inhumane. They live isolated mentally and cannot think past fear or being free. Through my music video, I wanted to show and describe to everyone what they are going through."

Well as for me Cypress Ghana, I find the video to be interesting and creative. I'm waiting to see what she'll come up with next. Rumor has it, she has another music video coming out featuring Okyeame Kwame, the song is already out there, it's titled, “Medo Wo.” so let's see what happens in her next video.
