The reigning Miss Ghana, Nadia Ntanu, last Saturday in the company of the Miss Ghana Foundation team spent a whole day fraternising with the physically-challenged at the Orthopaedic Training Centre, Adoagyiri, Nsawam.

She also donated food items such as bread, sugar, fruit juice, rice, noodles, mineral water and cereals to the centre.

According to the Chief Operating Officer of Miss Ghana Foundation, Mr Samuel Bokovie, about a month ago, Nadia went online trying to learn about the plight of people at the Orthopaedic Training Centre and subsequently decided to visit the place. When she visited the first time, she was moved and broke down in tears. Nadia then decided to adopt the centre and raise funds to support it.

Nadia Ntanu assured the centre of her continuous support, adding, 'Today will not be my last time here. Hopefully, I will be coming back to visit more often to help in whatever way I can.'

She added that the adoption of the centre is one of a number of things she plans to do. 'I intend to register 10,000 people under National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), do a campaign on child prostitution and mentor girls on female reproductive health. It doesn't end here, there is more to come,' she assured.

She concluded her visit with an excursion to a factory on the same compound where prosthetic legs and other aids are made.

Miss Ghana 2005, Inna Mariam Patty, who is currently the organiser of Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant, told the gathering to remember Nadia in their prayers as she prepares to compete on the world platform in December 2014.
