Kwamena Idan. INSET: The plaque
Kwamena Idan's Adom Live Worship on Adom FM, which is one of the most listened-to programmes on radio, was last Sunday adjudged the Radio Programme and DJ of The Year Award at this year's African Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) held on Sunday, August 24 at the Fairfield Concert Hall in Croydon in UK.

Kwamena, who has hosted the programme for the past four years, has built a reputation for himself as one of the country's best radio presenters.

The Africa Gospel Music Awards (AGMA) serves as the face and voice for the African gospel and Christian music community worldwide and is dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating the gospel through Africa-fusion music of all styles.

The AGMA is one of the biggest events which is being organised to reward and celebrate hardworking gospel musicians on the African continent.

This year's event, which is the fifth edition, attracted a large number of personalities, including gospel musicians from most of the African countries as well as some stakeholders from Africa and some parts of Europe.

At the event, various awards were presented to individuals and organisations for their immense contribution towards the development of African music.

Speaking to BEATWAVES, Kwamena Idan said, 'It's very encouraging to win an award like this. I have had some very good reviews and this is reassuring and helps motivate and inspire me and my team. This gives us the drive to keep going. Awards like these are amazing. The award is the result of great teamwork.'

To Kwamena, he never anticipated that his activities on radio were noticeable enough to merit an award. The award, he said, would thus be his source of encouragement in the years ahead.

The host of Adom Live Worship was grateful to listeners of the programme for their immense contribution towards the success of the programme. “The listeners of the programme showed me a lot of love, they accepted me faster than I expected and I owe them one,” Kwamena added.

He told BEATWAVES, 'I will work hard to maintain the good image I have attained so far as I remain a presenter of Adom Live Worship programme and always think of satisfying my listeners and admirers in whatever I do.'
