PERSONNEL OF the Marine Operation of the Eastern Command of the Ghana Police Service in Tema – leading the search for Theophilus Tagoe, known in the entertainment industry as Castro – and Janet Bandu, who got missing when jet skiing on the Volta Lake at Ada, are frustrated over several false pieces of information.

The bodies of the two people are far from being retrieved from the belly of the Volta River, five days after they reportedly got drowned.

Time and time again, the Marine Police said they received information from unknown persons, claiming that an unidentified body had been found along the coast of Ada in the Greater Accra Region as well as the Volta Region. However, the information turns out to be a fallacy as the yacht being used for the rescue operation has been returning empty since last Sunday when the incident occurred.

Earlier, police received information from some fisher folks and villagers who said they had discovered a body somewhere near Keta in the Volta Region, which was assumed to be that of Castro. The police said they diverted their search party to the place but after several hours, they returned with an empty yacht.

There was once again a reported tip-off about a body found at Aflao in the Volta Region last Wednesday morning; but the police said several hours of travelling by road and on the Volta Lake to the area yielded no positive result.

The informant, according to the police, keeps giving different locations – from Denu to Keta, Anloga and Aflao.

The search team seems to have been focusing its attention around the estuary and some parts of the Volta Lake, where Castro was believed to have been drowned together with the female friend – leaving the Jet Ski floating on the river.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Foster Komla Kotoku, Commander in charge of Marine Operations at the Eastern Command, Tema, told DAILY GUIDE that despite the misinformation, his outfit would continue to search for the missing musician and his supposed girlfriend, Janet Dandu.

According to him, 'We have intensified our rescue operations, hoping for positive information from the public, especially fisher folks, which will yield good results as the recent rescue mission has taken a different dimension.'

He therefore appealed for credible information that would lead to the discovery of the missing persons possibly around the Volta estuary at Azizanya in Ada.
