As far as movie making is concerned, video editing can never be done away with. Video editing is simply the process of manipulating and rearranging footages to give a meaningful and coherent touch. Hence, in any production, the video editor can never skip mention. It is the editor who transforms the artless footages into good movies we enjoy in the comfort of our homes; for which I would not compromise with my pen to acknowledging Afra Marley for his countless works of art in Africa and beyond.

Afra Marley is a well known Ghanaian for his stalwart editing works including the prodigious 'KUKAN KRUCHIA(A CRY OF A DOVE)' - feature film and the breathtaking works of art with likes of 'THE GOLDEN STOOL', 'BEYONCE', 'THE TRINITY', 'SOMEWHERE IN AFRICA' which got him nominations for Best Film Editing at ZAAFA Awards 2010, 2011, 2012(UK) also nominated for Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects at the AMAA Awards 2010 and 2012 respectively. Emerged winner for Best Film Editing MAG Awards 2010 and nominated in 2011 and 2012(Ghana Movie Awards),Winner of Best Editing and Nominated for Best Visual Effects for Nollywood and Africa Film Critics Award (NAFCA USA) to mention but a few.

Afra made way into the industry in 1997 as production assistant with Songhai Production House where he made all the 'donkey-jobs' as the industry players would call it. In 1998, his interest for video editing arosed when he became a studio assistant for Nuvision Studio. He eventually moved on to higher grounds when he was appointed Technical Assistant & Editor with Uplink Limited at Awudome Estates, Accra, 1998 to 2002. Also, worked as Head of Productions at Iffec Creative Venture at Radio Gold, Accra (2002-2003). With lots of experience, he doubled up as General Manager for Big Star Studio(2003-2005) where he got full control to exhibit his managerial skills. He also works with Silverline Production since 2005 as head of editing department.

However in 2005 the movie industry met a tough competition with the influx of Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood films into the country but Afra never got perturbed. Instead, he works hard to turn things right. At the time he worked with three top productions namely A.A Production, Venus Films, Gupado Films as well as being head of production and postproduction for Media Captain and Kingsworld Media System where he trend on documentaries, commercials and TV productions. Assemblies on the move, 2D Animation of Kanda Interchange and Accra one-way flow for Ghana Highway Authority.etc are all his handiwork.

Full of experiences now and very hardworking Afra raise the bar for himself as he opens his own studio PROWORKS STUDIOS in 2007 with help of his cohort Peter Mensah. Again in 2008 Afra got another opportunity to manage Atlas Multimedia LTD.

There is no doubt that Afra Marley has played and still playing a merritable role to the betterment of the movie industry. Today, he has become a model for numerous of youth who are aspiring to be video editors.

_Merci Beaucoup_
