The final list of qualifiers after a grueling period of auditioning to select Afro Pop Stars was released on Tuesday.
The 36 hugely talented stars will start appearing on Metro TV from today to enable the public to vote on them via SMS and Anita will be in the Metro seat for the Morning Ride from 11am.
The successful one include hiplife artistes, Be Black, Pimp Sojas, Death Squad, Two Whites, Nana Owusu, Kasahara Brothers, Omankrado, Ediyesem, Plus C, Golden Boy and Rabal. T
The gospel stars include the sensational Black Angles, Royal, Priest, Lovely Sisters, Isaac Allotey, Golden Royal Simon, Ernest D, Justice, Wofa Kay, Joseph Osew, Dylis Mercu and Justice Larbi.
Four hiphop stars are also in the qualifiers. They are Berty, Ziad, Syko Delly and Seth Kanyan.
The highlife greats are Daddy Bosco, OP, Stephen Stone, Asasa and Freaky Kelly. The sole traditional music artistes qualifiers is madam Hamida. Their productions were done by Faisal and Waleed Helwani, backed by Jerry, a sound engineer.
Six Afro Pop artistes will appear on Metro TV every Saturday from today to perform and to be interviewed.
Meanwhile, the two gospel kids who form the Black Angels Gospel group have proved to be real gems, necessitating the mixing and mastering of their song even ahead of their appearance o Metro TV. Faisal Helwani, ace producer and project director calls them the “sensation of the moment”.
There is every promise that the entire musical landscape will be totally transformed when the first in the series of the Afro Pop Stars talent hunt project ends pretty soon.
New gospel artistes will be on the block and as for hiplife, the Obours and Nkaseis better start getting jittery. They are going to meet the challenge of their lives. The Afro Pop Stars are really super.
