The President of the Music Council of Ghana (MCG), Ekow Micah, has declared the Council's stance to work tirelessly to put in place policies that would protect the music industry and the rights of the Ghanaian musician.

He stated that the music industry lacked good structures and the Council had started holding series of meetings with the stakeholders to come out with a strategy to streamline the operation of the industry.

Ekow Micah also indicated that the Council was working tirelessly to flush out those who want to enrich themselves at the expense of poor Ghanaian musicians.

The President again called for drastic measures to be taken to weed out all those whose activities have contributed toward the collapse of Ghana's music industry.

Speaking to BEATWAVES in a chat, Ekow disclosed that his outfit which is solid in its activities 'is ready to take the music industry in Ghana to another level.'

The music industry, according to him, 'Is a potential revenue earner with many job creation opportunities, but because of lack of focus and effective structures to enhance the development and promotion of Ghanaian music coupled with a divided front, potential investors with the ability to drive the industry are finding it difficult to invest in the industry.'

He was of the view that Ghanaian musicians would have a lot to gain if works' rights are protected because it would help them realise the fruits of their labour.

The President added that 'it is the duty of the Council to work with everybody including the government to monitor the activities of the industry players who have been given the mandate to manage the affairs of the industry.'

He added that the MCG would promote greater participation and transparency, and do well to always involve the members of the various unions in decision making.

He, however, called for a common vision that would enhance unity among those in the music industry.
