Blogger and brands/corporate communication practitioner, Kwame Gyan, has made what he calls “a little, 'widows mity' contribution to orphans and some underprivileged folks through the Citi 97.3 FM Easter Orphan Project.

Kwame Gyan, a former practicing journalist with Accra's top two English speaking stations, Joy FM and CITI FM, made headlines on social and mainstream media last month when an otherwise ordinary post on his private Facebook wall resulted in his suspension from Airtel Ghana where he works. His suspension resulted in a huge backlash on social media against his company and government for its alleged involvement in the matter.

In a post on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages Wednesday April 16, Kwame Gyan posted;

“Okay so my birthday is in a few days (April 19) and we are also in the Easter season; so in the spirit of the double celebration, I made a little, 'widows mity' contribution to orphans and some underprivileged folks through the Citi 97.3 FM Easter Orphan Project. I will also spend some time on Easter Monday at one of the orphanages. Lots of things to be thankful for and the Old Man above has had my back my back for a very long time and I feel obligated to show love and appreciation in this way to Him".

Kwame Gyan trended for about a week in March when his suspension for expressing a private opinion allegedly led to government putting pressure on Airtel to dismiss him. Airtel did not sack him and Kwame Gyan has since returned to work with Airtel where he is the Brand Assets Manager. He still remains very active on social media with regular thoughts and posts on politics, sports, the arts, social issues, etc.

Considering he was suspended without pay and has yet to work for a month to receive salary, the donation is worth commending.
