And you beat your chest in masculine arrogance, “this is my house?” Have you bought cement before?

For those of you who have still not made up your mind to go watch what Nii Commey has declared as “The Official Stage Play for the Easter”, ANTICLOCKWISE is on this Easter Sunday, 20th April. The venue is the National Theatre. And believe it or not, Nii Commey is ready to set the City electrifying with his latest stage magnum opus.

The play ANTICLOCKWISE
Nii symbolically uses the word ANTICLOCKWISE to represent retrogressing society. There comes a time in the life of an individual, a nation, a society where things don't go as planned. The more you try to straighten the crookedness, the more difficult it becomes. That is the story of the family o Oopana. The Oopana family is faced with perennial hard times. Each member of  the family must fight to the to keep their heads ashore: from finances to career and from romance to social lives.

As much as they try to disentangle themselves from this impenetrable web the more things go haywire. With a mesh of irony, slapsticks, undiluted spoken words and melodies, ANTI CLOSCKWISE raises the bar in the world of contemporary playwriting. Natural contemporary African setting, with intense plots chronicling the day to day life of the ordinary Ghanaian family.

CONFLICT
Any story devoid of conflict is not worth watching or reading. In ANTICLOCWISE, it is clearly demonstrated as the family of Oopana continues to battle the claws of misfortunes; Father and son; neighbors; mother and family friends. Conflict Galore! This is one of the strongest ways to test the durability and quality of a play.

Gladson Watts is a renowned Poet based in Sweden. He was at one of the rehearsals and had this to say

“ This style of writing is a bit unusual of Nii Commey. He usually puts comedy in his words and dialogues. But this play has wits in even actions. This play is a masterpiece. I pray our audience will make this play come alive.”

In a conversation with Nii Commey, he indicated that “this play transcends this generation. It's a play for this generation; the next generation and the generation ahead of the next generation.”
