Zohzoh Launches I WAN SHIT New Single In Ghana
22.11.2013 LISTEN

I know you are wondering about the above sentence I WAN SHIT, just to break it down, Is a popular pigeon English language widely spoken in West Africa meaning (I want to go to the toilet) Does this baffle your mind on why somebody will publicly say this?

My name is Yaw Boateng, artist name ZOHZOH, a Ghanaian born musician based in New Zealand for about 11 years now. I had a very awkward real life experience a year ago with the public toilets system in Ghana which gave birth to the song "I WAN SHIT". It took me nearly two hours in Accra to have access to public to do my private business…….. the rest to be continued. Many Ghanaians and other travellers experience this everyday but they are too shy or not confident enough to speak about "shit".

It is a problem that people do not like to talk about. But it goes to the heart of ensuring good health, a clean environment and fundamental human dignity for billions of people.

According to available statistics, 2.5 billion people around the world currently lack access to safe sanitation or improved toilets, while around 700,000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

According to WaterAid in Ghana, a non-governmental organization in water, sanitation and hygiene, 10.5 million women and girls lack safe and adequate sanitation. 2.3 million out of this number do not have access to a toilet at all. 4.8 million Ghanaians are said to practice open defecation or “free-range” every day.

“The shit is everywhere” water bodies get polluted everyday and this is a serious environmental problem in my country Ghana and other big Cities in Africa.

This year world toilet day with the theme, TOILETS FOR GOOD HEALTH, I am dedicating this song to raise public awareness in Ghana and other African countries. The fight is not one man's fight and I am looking for supports from Organizations (NGO'S) Businesses, individuals and Philanthropists to join me to launch this song in Ghana middle of December at REPUBLIC BAR

I will officially pre launch this song on the 30th of November in New Zealand to share my story to the general public. It is my greatest desire for the media world to make this song known to Ghanaians and the rest of Africa.

Attached is an mp3 file of the song.
