Truth be told, not so many of such extraordinary minds with such ingenuity and creativity are born very often but Ebenezer Donkoh popularly known in Showbiz circus as NY DJ and a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has over the past year on commercial radio carved a niche for himself as the young man of the people and a strong force to reckon with in the Ashanti, perhaps a trait amongst the few radio talents produced by KNUST.
Fitting perfectly into a seat once occupied by Accra's latest sensation Lexis Bill, NY DJ has perfectly fitted into a shoe which many thought could not be replaced after the departure of Lexis Bill. Exactly a year ago as he took the challenge to host Homestretch whilst a student on KNUST, he sent a message to Lexis Bill on social media twitter saying,
“@Lexisbill, I am now married to your ex and hope I can best fill this big shoe you left”.
A year down the lane, any great fan of urban radio celebrates his worth and contribution to the showbiz industry at large and Kumasi to be precise. Giving a totally different twist to the characteristic radio drive in the Garden City, NY DJ is gradually turning out to be the greatest young voice on urban radio and with a vast knowledge on which music to entertain his listeners mixed with lifestyle segment, entertainment tit bits, crazy facts and Sports and a great self responsibility to help unearth talents in the city, his unique style is undoubtedly a great blessing to the Garden City.
NY DJ has so far hosted several local and international artistes, actors and actresses and other high dignified personalities.
This month of August, he has dedicated his Drive time show, Homestretch to promoting a powerful arm of the creative arts yet looked down upon, Spoken word and Poetry, an initiative which has received tremendous support and appreciation from majority of his listeners. Catch him on Kapital Radio 97.1MHz and online via www.kapital971.com from 15:30GMT till 19:00 GMT each weekday and experience the new buzz on the airspace.
