Legendary music group Osibisa is set to re-launch one of its greatest albums, Happy Children, at the Alliance Francaise Saturday.
The group, founded in 1969 with four Ghanaian members and three Caribbean musicians, is by far Ghana's biggest musical export and is credited with international hits such as Welcome Home, Dance The Body Music, Sunshine Day, I Feel Pata Pata, and The Coffee Song.
Founding member of the group, Teddy Osei told Myjoyonline.com in an interview that proceeds from Saturday's re-launch will go into supporting their Dream Child Foundation which was founded about a year ago.
'It is an event to support Dream Child Foundation so that children, especially African children could have a better life. At the event, albums will be sold [and] the profits will go to the foundation.' he said.
He added that 'Dream Child [Foundation] was established 'in collaboration with Kofi Amoakohene and Ben Brako we did some programme last year that brought up the Dream Child.'
According to Teddy Osei, the re-launch will witness some exciting performances from Osibisa, Steve Bedi, Owura, Bessa Simons, Kwame Yeboah with some artistes from Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire.
The Happy Children album will have 12-tracks on it including a remix of Happy Children, Fire Will Burn You and a host of others.
Osibisa lost one of its founding members and trumpeter Mac Tontoh on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Mac, brother of Teddy Osei, was widely known for being an energetic performer who helped hold the foundations of the group to be a successful one.
