JUL 1, 2012 LISTEN

Sensational Ghanaian music group Rana has made use of a warehouse abandoned for several years to achieve what has been described as a great-picture and art-direction music video for the group's hit single, 'Mr. Cupid', produced by Imajin Records.

The video is scheduled for its first TV premiere on Saturday, June 30 on 4syte TV.

But ahead of the anticipated premiere, industry players who have seen the video are hailing the video production team for a good work done, especially with the choice of location.

The video was partly shot at a scruffy desert location in Kintampo and an abandoned warehouse in Kumasi.

The video production team spent weeks on the set to make sure they achieved the right images, effects and setting they wanted. Hence they had to deal with snakes and rodents.

The concept of the video starts with all three members of Rana descending from the skies onto a desert and entering a village where they picked their costumes from a drying-line.

In the next scene, they enter a warehouse packed with people on motorbikes waiting for the 'cupid' action. After hot performances, they finally disappear in the tail end of the video.

There were interesting appearances in the video by top actresses Nana Ama Mcbrown, Gloria Sarfo and musician Diamond.

In terms of picture quality, lightening, location and performance, the video stands tall among many others on Ghana's music video scene. Special effects and arts direction are worth writing home about.

The choreography is off the chain. Rana took the music video to the next level as it can compete with any video internationally. It was directed by Nick Baeta of Jenirex Multimedia Consult, Kumasi.

It is expected to be premiered on other big and international platforms after Saturday's premiere on 4syte TV.
