It was partly dramatic and all fun when some of the crème de la of Ghana's female stars in the entertainment industry converged on the Elwak Stadium to play football to raise funds for actress Juliet Ibrahim Foundation's kidney project.
Female celebrities who took part in the game were divided into two teams; the orange jersey team called surgery and white jersey team called dialysis.
The game ended 2-2 after the final whistle was blown by referee PY Addo of Viasat 1. After penalty kicks, none of the two sides was able to show supremacy over the other; therefore, the game was postponed to a yet-to-be announced date.
The surgery team was made up of Juliet Ibrahim, Jessica of Citi FM, DJ Kess, Nikki Samonas, Beverly Afaglo, Martha Ankomah, Joselyn Dumas, Helen Asante, Rosleyn Ngissah, Nana Aba, Sandra Ankobiah, Pascaline Edwards, Becca, Franchesca Gray, Naa Ashorkor Doku and Doreen Avio of Hitz FM among others.
The dialysis team on the other hand was made up of Yvonne Okoro, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Kyeiwa, Mzbel, Amanda Jissih, Caroline of YFM, Vicky Zugah, Deborah Vanessa, Magdalene Mensah, Gloria Sarfo, Luckie Lawson and Sonia Ibrahim among others.
During the first-half, the dialysis team was leading by 2 goals to nil, with Mzbel's dancer in the goal post for the dialysis team and Naa Ashorkor for the surgery team.
The dialysis goalkeeper was very good and impressed a lot of people.
When the teams went on recess, the surgery team raised objection that they didn't see the keeper for the dialysis team when they were practising ahead of the match, therefore she should be changed.
Juliet Ibrahim then went for the microphone to announce that they would not accept it if the lady remained in the goal post. Even though the spectators were divided over the choice, the lady decided to leave the post for new goal-keeper Amanda Jissih of GH ONE. Beverly Afaglo also came in for Nana Ashorkor.
Not long after the second half whistle, Citi FM's Jessica got the ball past keeper Amanda to register her team's first goal of the day.
Pressure was mounted on the dialysis team who were playing from the Airport side of the stadium. Less than 15 minutes later, DJ Kess converted the second goal for the surgery team.
The surgery team kept mounting pressure on their opponents. Actress Luckie Lawson provided them an opportunity after she used her hand to touch the ball in the 18-yard box. A spot kick was awarded against her dialysis team but Amanda saved the ball kicked by Jessica.
It was an exciting moment when she tried some azonto moves after she blocked the ball.
The match was sponsored by Nike and organized by Juliet Ibrahim Foundation to raise funds to support kidney disease patients. Each of the players received a certificate of participation, with Nana Ama Mcbrown being named player of the match.
