Eazzy In Big Brother?
5/5/2012 9:43:15 AM -
Eazzy If all goes as planned, Ghanaian female musician Eazzy will release her second single on her second album on Monday on selected radio stations across the country.
The single titled Rock This Party features the self proclaimed undisputed king of the streets Kwaw Kesse.
This launch comes on the heels of the launch of the video of Go Go Wind, the first single on the album last Friday at Rockstone’s Office.
The irony of the matter is this: by the time the Monday launch takes place Eazzy might not be in town, that is, if the rumour making the rounds is confirmed that she would be representing the country at the next edition of the Big Brother Africa reality show on DStv.
Dubbed Big Brother Africa Stargame this season’s show will feature two housemates each representing Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The organisers said before the auditions that “both partners must come from the same country, must be 21 years or older and must be fluent in English.”
The Eazzy rumour started last Friday when peacefmonline.com broke the news that they had information from highly placed sources that Mildred Ashong or Eazzy as she is known in showbiz circles and her boyfriend would represent Ghana at the pan-continental reality show.
Since then the news has made the rounds on all social media platforms and has found its way to other traditional media circles that Eazzy and her boyfriend Keitta Ossei are the bona fide representatives of Ghana at the forthcoming Big Brother Africa show although officials at Multichoice Ghana have refused to either confirm or deny the story.
This is because the producers love to keep and guard jealously the names of those who would appear on the show until the launch day when it is revealed to the whole world, thus revealing it would take the surprise element out of the opening show. Indeed previously, a contestant whose name came out in the press before the launch was disqualified.
What has been confirmed though is that Eazzy and Keitta responded to the call for auditioning by couples who wanted to take part in the show and auditioned as regular people. It could therefore mean (if Eazzy and Keitta are revealed to be the couple representing Ghana) that the duo was chosen above all others to present the country.
The third person mentioned in the peacefmonline.com story as also representing Ghana is PY Addo, the co-presenter of The One Show on Viasat1. He is said to be the celebrity representative for Ghana although it is definite that PY Addo will not be going to the Big Brother Africa house in the coming season to represent Ghana in any capacity.
Sources close to Multichoice Ghana have indicated that a few Ghanaian celebrities like Kofi Okyere Darko, Kwaw Kesse, and Wanlov The Kubolor all came on the radar to be chosen to represent Ghana. However, the organisers thought Wanlov was head and shoulders above the rest and would have loved to have him in the house but he declined the invitation because of performance commitments he had previously arranged in Europe and elsewhere.
When Wanlov declined the offer, sources say, other celebrities the search team thought would be interesting in the house were approached but they also declined the offer leading to the choosing of one person in showbiz circles, a choice that would come as a surprise to many when revealed on Sunday (we can’t say who it is for now except to say it would be a mighty surprise to many).
The question on the lips of many analysts of the Big Brother show and viewers for that matter is whether Eazzy and his boyfriend are capable of representing the country very well if indeed they are the couple who have been chosen for the purpose.
Eazzy rose to fame two years ago with her Wengeze song and attendant waist jiggling and was considered by some as one of the best female stage performers in the country. Recently she was reported to have parted company with Lynx Entertainment the label that recorded her first album and managed her.
According to sources, she is currently on her own (which means she is not on KOD’s Blaq Kapricon as rumoured) trying to put her management team in place ahead of the release of her second album. Which then begs the question: why would she be eager to enter the Big Brother Africa house for a possible 91 days while her new album would be out and need to be promoted?
Others have also asked who really her boyfriend Keitta is. After some digging, what came up was that he is the younger brother of hiplife musician Reggie Rockstone Ossei.
Keitta Ossei, who is in his late twenties is a Ghanaian model who has lived in the UK for a while and he has been going out with Eazzy for a about a year and half now. Does he and Eazzy have what it takes to win the heart of Africa and bring home the grand prize?
When the season seven of the Big Brother Africa reality show on MNet launches on Sunday it will air for 24 hours on DStv channel 198 for a period of 91 days and the prize money at stake for the couple who will emerge winners, according to the producers, is USD300,000.
Should it be that Eazzy, Keitta and the celebrity rep are those chosen to represent Ghana, many followers of the television reality show would like to know if they can be better representatives of the country than those before them namely Sammy B, Kweku T, Mimi, Ras Wayoe, Sammy B, Confidence and Alex.
