Yvonne Nelson Rocks Vocal Cameo on Trigmatics Upcoming Album
30.06.2011 LISTEN

Top actress Yvonne Nelson may be serving a 12-month movie industry ban (until November 25, 2011) for reported incidents of disrespectful and rude acts toward industry people both on and off-set- and specifically- with regard to movie producer, Sallam Abdul-Mumuni (ceo of Venus Productions); but the sleek screen goddess with over 35 movies to her credit, would in the meantime, use her music talent.

The Princess Tyra actress's already made a go of it in sister industry- music, featuring on a yet-to-hit radio song called Friends off the 2011 GMA Best Rapper, Trigmatic's upcoming album titled, Solution.

Though Trig, would try to keep anyone (including us) from discussing the song as he wishes to drop it on Y-FM as a surprise in a fortnight's time, myhiworld.com can confirm that Yvonne Nelson did a rap verse, and plenty adlibbing as of track 'cooking' time in studios.

Realizing that yours truly had gone to the extent of secretly (but legitimately) grabbing a copy of the almost-finished song, Trig decided to talk about, firstly, his long-time relationship with the controversial Dansoman-bred actress, and secondly, the song.

“Yvonne and me had been friends since we met in Martin de Porres School at Dansoman. We used to rap together. After basic school she continued to Aggrey Memorial Secondary in Cape Coast, where I gather, she moved on with her 'tomboy' stuff. 'Tomboy' because one hardly saw lot of girls listening to rap music let alone rapped in those early times of hip hop invasion of our industry”, he said.

So when they reconnected recently, “it was largely the rap thing that brought us together”, Yvonne Nelson told Hi Newspaper.

But how tight are they now? “We hung out together and have fun together but we don't go beyond that. No crossing of sacred boundaries”, he said.

The 'My Life' rapper said, “I love being friends with ladies. The secret is that if you choose her friendship, she [usually] does the favors. But when she chooses you, you have to do [all the] favors.” Trig lectures about the opposite sex when myhiworld.com caught up with him at a studio at Mataheko where he was putting finishing touches to his late July 2011-scheduled album.

“I have a lot of songs but can't tell how many would be on the album, though I can promise not less than 12 would land on the Solution CD, which we will launch in grand style late July.”

Yvonne Nelson wasn't just bragging when she wrote on her facebook page in June that this year was “the best and busiest year” of her life. This year, the 2011 Ghana Movie Awards Favorite Actress, took advantage of her less busy movie schedule (due to the ban), to unleash a fashion venture-YN Closet, a fashion shop and YN Lace Wig, a wig brand.

So after securing a Ghana Music Awards nomination for her 2010 Glaucoma awareness song which features Trigmatic, Sarkodie, Ayigbe Edem, Irene Logan, Sherifa Gunu and Fresh Prince of 4X4, would music be her next stop?
