Over the years, Ghana has produced some of the finest DJs on the continent of Africa.

One of such is Samuel Nartey popularly known as DJ Awana. Awana began his radio career with the Tema-based Adom FM in 2003, where he carved a niche for himself as one of the top DJs in Ghana with his style of selection.

He caused a stir when he resigned from Adom FM and joined Oman FM in 2007, where he presented his unique selection of Gospel music on Sunday mornings, like he used to do on Adom FM, in addition to his Friday night 'bashment' of the best in Ghanaian music.

After three years at the Madina-based station, he packed his bag and baggage and returned to the Multimedia fold and Hitz FM .

Since then he has been hosting his trade mark Sunday morning gospel show while waking the city up with inspirational music.

Early this month, the management of Hitz introduced a new show called 'Easy Listening' and gave him the responsibility of entertaining the music lovers.

'Easy Listening' is a contemporary highlife show.
The show runs from 1 to 3pm and apart from the great contemporary highlife he plays, the show is spiced with skits and clips from the world of comedy and movies to provide a total entertainment package for the listener.

According to DJ Awana, the show offers him an opportunity to display the skills he's best known for, serving great hit music without frills just for the thrills.

He says Kwabena Kwabena is his favourite artiste and he loves banku and okro stew to a fault, adding that his favourite colour is sea blue. The Capricorn born presenter describes Pastor Mensah Otabil as his role model and says his dream destination is Kwahu while he fantasizes about owning a part of the United States of America.
