• 50 couples tie the knot in a colourful ceremony with thousands in attendance
• Three lucky couples to fly to South Africa and Nigeria for a memorable honeymoon

Accra: The much anticipated Happy FM Valentine Mass Wedding finally came off at the Accra International Conference Centre. The glamorous event saw a record number of 50 couples tie the knot on Valentine's Day. This community investment initiative by Ghana's No. 1 Sports Station Happy 98.9 FM has seen over one hundred and fifty (150) couples consummate their marriage in a beautiful wedding ceremony at no cost since its inception four years ago. This year, the numbers have grown, testifying to the growing interest of the public who have come to hail the event as one of the best and meaningful social investment by a corporate body.

Thousands of people including friends and family of the couples who witnessed the beautiful ceremony were beside themselves with joy and amazement. “Happy FM is doing a great job. I can't believe they went all out to organise this grand event free of charge to all 50 participating couples. This initiative is very relevant and helpful. Ayekoo to Happy FM” Said Ewurabena Sarpong, a friend to one of the couples.

Hilda Tse added “I'm registering right away to be part of next year's mass wedding. This is beautiful. My fiancé and I have been struggling to fund our wedding. This will be a relief and it will bring us so much joy. This is more than glamorous. Thank you Happy FM and all sponsors”.

Officiating Minister Rev. Arthur Mensah of Calvary Methodist Church cautioned the couples to be united in love, adding that unity and oneness of mind coupled with respect for each other is the key to a successful marriage. He urged the couples to let the fear of God guide whatever they do in their respective families. Adding more colour to the occasion were breathtaking performances by gospel artists Gifty Osei, Cee, Ampong and Isaac Show Boy who thrilled the audience with great contemporary tunes.

In the preceding months, the couples were taken through intensive counselling sessions from seasoned marriage counsellors such as Teacher Kofi and Mama Christie. They were also engaged in many fun activities such as 'Don't mind your wife cooking contest'. The couples were also schooled by 2nd Image and Beauty Academy on personal grooming and beauty.

Station Manager of Happy FM, Bismark Brown expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and partners 'for being a part of this social intervention which continues to be of significant help to many people. “Next year will even be bigger and better. Our main challenge from now is securing a venue big enough to contain the numbers, judging from today's hugely successful event” he said.

The Happy FM Valentine Mass Wedding is organised free of charge to registered couples. The annual event is a social investment initiative by Happy FM to bring relief to couples who dream to consummate their marriage with a white wedding but do not have the means to do so. The ceremony is held on Valentine's Day (February 14) each year.
