A combination of critical factors considered as germane for success contributed to the choice of international award-winning sensation, D'Banj as an ambassador of the Glo brand.

The Group Chief Operating Officer of Globacom, Mr Mohamed Jameel outlined the factors at a ceremony held at the imposing Mike Adenuga Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday to present a branded SUV to the 'Koko' Master.

Jameel described D'Banj as an outstanding, exceptionally gifted entertainer and a proud ambassador of Globacom. D'Banj, he noted, “is clearly the rave of the moment… an item on both local and the international scenes in the recent past and whose collaboration with our world class brand is a perfect synergy for the entertainment and empowerment of our people.

“Globacom has always been very careful in the choice of its ambassadors and the qualities that endeared D'Banj to us include a clear-cut undying, can-do spirit, perseverance and passion for excellence”.

He noted that these are some of the traits that have propelled Globacom to the top within a few years of operations in the telecommunications sector. He described the event as yet another testimonial to Globacom's unassailable position as the pacesetter in the telecoms sector, adding that when it set out in 2003, Globacom offered to make the difference in the sector by raising the bar of performance.

“We took on the challenge of building for Africa, the biggest and best network with people's empowerment as the epicentre of our activities. We are proud that just over 5 years, our efforts are resonating across the country and indeed the continent as we have taken the initial steps towards our pan-African dream.

Jameel described the presentation as not only in partial fulfilment of Globacom's agreement with the music icon but also a re-affirmation of its commitment to the general well-being of Nigerians.
