The household of popular Yoruba actress, Esther Idowu Philips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has been thrown into confusion, after her car accidentally killed a commuter in Oshodi area of Lagos.
Although the ageing actress was not in the car when the incident occurred, www.nollywoodgists.com gathered that her mechanic was driving the vehicle when the accident occurred.
The vehicle is currently in police custody, while the mechanic is at large.
Confirming the story to www.nollywoodgists.com, a police source, who craved anonymity, said though the mechanic is at large, his mother has been arrested.
www.nollywoodgists.com gathered that the actress had given the faulty vehicle to the mechanic for repairs. But instead of returning the vehicle to the owner after doing his job, he went out with his friends with the car, which hit the deceased who was urinating by the roadside.
Speaking with www.nollywoodgists.coml on phone, Iya Rainbow confirmed the incident. She, however, stated that she was not in the car when the accident occurred.
“I didn't know how the incident happened because I was not there. As a God-fearing person, I'm only trying to intervene in the matter and see how I can make children of the deceased happy.
“I'm not really bothered about my car that was damaged because the life that was lost means a lot to me. The mechanic is on the run but the police have apprehended his mother,” Iya Rainbow confirmed.
