July 9, 2012 – New York, NY – The Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) is proud to announce the hosts of this year's award show, and also the lineup of events for the NEA weekend scheduled to kick-off from Friday, August 31 – Sunday, September 2, 2012, here in New York City.
With less than two months to go, the countdown to the 2012 NEA Awards has officially begun and the excitement and anticipation towards this huge annual event, now in its 7th year, is picking up momentum daily. The organizers of the NEA are pleased to announce that the hosts for this year's award show are none other than the brilliant Nollywood actress, and queen of Nollywood comedy, Funke Akindele-Oloyede aka Jenifa, alongside one of the Kings of Nigerian comedy, and TV host extrordinare AY The Comedian. This A-game duo will be entertaining and thrilling the audience from curtain up to curtain down at the awards.
The official event line up for the award weekend, which is also Labor Day weekend, is as follows –
Friday, August. 31 - NEAs Music on the Catwalk Fashion show, where the world of fashion and music come together as we celebrate African fashion designers, and their different collections of work. This event is presented by Arik Air, supported by Iman Entertainment. The show kicks off at 7pm at Broad Street Ballroom.
Saturday, Sept. 1 – The first event of the day is the NEA Nollywood Film Festival presented by IrokoTV partners. This film festival provides fans and supporters of the Nigerian movie industry the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite African Actors/Actresses/Producers/Directors etc, while also discussing with industry executives on how to move the industry forward. Time for this event is 12noon.
Crack Ya Ribs – New York Edition presented by Julius D' Genius Agwu is the second event for the day. The rib cracking comedian surround by a stellar line up of supporting comedians will leave the audience rolling with laughter all through. The show begins at 7pm, and all events for this day are being held at the Symphony Space Sharp Theater, NYC.
Sunday, Sept. 2 – The big show down, the 7th Annual NEA Award show powered by Arik Air and Iman Entertainment is scheduled to take place at the Skirball Performing Arts Center, with red carpet arrivals at 5pm and show time at 7pm. As earlier mentioned, Funke Akindele and AY the comedian will be hosting.
