Disturbed by the moral decay in the society cum the daunting challenges confronting the youths, Steve O whose real name is Stephen Omega is already being tipped to wow in 2012 as he makes a debut with a motivational song album entitled Next Level.
Currently, four of the tracks Fere Kufe, Kokoro, Vanity, and kpomo have began to enjoy massive airplay on many radio stations across the nation.
The promising artistes who hails from Taraba State and holds PGD in Transport Planning from Lagos State university has been working underground since 1992, and now ready to storm the music scene with his unique style, a style that not only has a commercial valour, but would lift the Nigerian youth from the depth of despondency.
“I am coming out with lyrics that would work on the subconscious mind of the youths. I want to shift them away from vanities”, he disclosed in a chart.
On why his style of music is different from the contemporary style, he says: “Contemporary music doesn't make meaning to me.
It does not in any way edify or motivate anybody to work hard towards realising worthwhile dreams.
We need a kind of music that would lift us up from the pit of promiscuity and develop morals in us”.
Interestingly, the songs are really life transforming, a deviation from the contemporary music style that talks about money and women in manners that exacerbate corruption and promiscuity.
With other tracks like Vanity, My promised land, Daddy used to say, Next level, among others, the strong willed musician has no doubt emerged to affect lives.
With this, it would not be wrong to refer to him as the long awaited messiah that would use music to empower the 21st century youths.
Steve O boasts of an impressive parentage. Aside being a son of a devoted deacon, the charismatic and emerging star grew up with the fear of God, knowing what he wants out of life and pursuing it with great vigour.
This according to him could be the reason behind his type of music. In his words: “I came from a staunch Christian home where emphasis is laid on good and exemplary lifestyle. So it is this decent upbringing that I want to pass to those who did not have such opportunity”.
Apart from using music as a tool to redirect the attention of Nigerian youths and campaign for admirable moral behaviour, he also has intention of organising seminars.
According to him, this would avail him the opportunity to inspire people on one-on-one-basis, especially those who may not have had the opportunity of listening to his tracks.
Already in touch with other great
motivational speakers across the states for the great seminal ahead, Steve O is a star to watch out for in 2012.
