Singer-songwriter Chinedu Opute, better known as NPZ is proud to present his international dance single “Shut It Down (Kerewa)”.
“Shut It Down is an afro-dance song fused with Western electro-beats, produced by Shizzi. I put it together to get people moving on the dance floor, but the concept is different, it is universal: I just take what the world gives me and I make that work with what I know. I figured I could get everyone hopping if the dance steps were indigenous, hence the “Kerewa” bit in the song”.
A mainstay on the afro pop circuit for the last 4 years, NPZ has 6 singles to his credit; the latest are “Shut It Down” (2012) and “Aisha (2012) – a collaboration with label-mate, Davido. He has performed on tour with music stars such as 2face Idibia, Wande Coal, Biggiano and Shank.
It is hard to imagine another artiste on the afro pop scene who combines western and native sounds into one song. It is not just a wealth of musical styles or his expressive voice that have made NPZ such a fine artist; his songs, which range from thoughtful to naughty, separate him from an array of artistes who are well known for one style of music.
