Couples who divide up housework fairly have better sex lives

If your significant other is currently washing up while you relax after eating a delicious meal they made, get up and help them, now. Your sex life depends on it.

A new study has confirmed previous findings on the importance of housework when it comes to sex in relationships.

The research, to be published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, has found that couples who share the housework equally and fairly have more sex. Equality is such a turn-on.

Sharon Sassler, one of the authors in the study, explained that there's been an international decline in the frequency of sex in relationships – and the only couples experiencing an increase are those who 'adhere to a more egalitarian division of labour'.

When one person in the relationship does the majority of the housework (or all of it), the couple experiences a decline in the amount of sex they have.

Researchers found that couples who shared housework equally had sex 6.8 times per month on average.

Which might not sound like much, but it's one entire sex session more than couples in which the woman did the bulk of housework had.

So if you want to improve your sex life, have a happy relationship, and generally not be a massive d*ck, make sure you're dividing the housework equally. If they cook, you clean. Then have sex.
