Usually, I spend my daysresearching, writing, reading, speaking@ events or listening to music..!!☺ Gracefully, my line of work brings me into encounter with wide spectrum of genres (both from reading&musical backgrounds). One of my favorite in music though is country music (especially by Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, and Don Jackson)...and some mix from Phil Collins, Richard Bona & Yanni (periodically for balance)! Old timers most of these are, YES; but still they’ve got few great lines& skill unequaled till date…!
Having sat hours reading, researching and writing in preparation for a speech I had been invited to give at a friend’s social gathering, I decided to stroll around my neighborhood to catch a glimpse of the environment and hopefully feel a little more refreshed. Indeed, unusual of me, I was suffering a writer’s block as I struggled to prepare for the speech on ‘Love Making, Love Taking& Love Breaking’.
The anxiety wasn’t in my inability to speak, or lack of knowledge on topic. Rather I considered that, the issue of LOVE is simply inexhaustible; not to mention when different angles of ‘making, taking& breaking’ all have to feature…and guess what, the speech was to last 15minutes! A spoken Word of a sought!!! After struggling for over 2hours with divergent approaches to take on the subject, I concluded I needed a lone-wolf stroll! And stroll I did!!!
While gently pacing my steps, I overhead a song I suspect composed by Don Williams 5minutes walk from where I lived; the song chorus simply said: '...Love is NOT about where you live or who you know; it’s NOT about what you do or where you are from...rather, ‘Love is all about WHO YOU LOVE &WHO LOVES YOU…!!!
I immediately paused to listen well to the lyrics and to reflect on it briefly...alas, I said, HOW TRUE! HOW TRUE!! THIS ISIT (at least to some extent)...!!! BINGO, the song had given me good lead for my speech…& I killed it in 12minutes at the event!
The lesson/ fud4tot below was extracted from the speech I delivered (repackaged for the benefit of today’s reader):
- Usually, we allow ‘tooooooo’ many things to INTERRUPT the simple commitment of 'true-honest-unconditional' love we have for our partners and potential partners!!!
We ask ourselves, where is s/he from? What does s/he do? Who does s/he know? Etc.etc. etc…and usually the fuel for such frivolous interrogation is from 3rd party people!Here we go listening and centralizing the suggestions and comments of 3rd party in a relationship that affects you and your partner PRIMARILY, before anyone else…!
The one sure way to break love is to ‘listen outside’ than ‘listen inside’! Listening outside keeps relationship partners alienated from each other; hence, partners are individually vulnerable facing ‘the world’ as lone-rangers rather than as a partnership.
- Decide to place premium on your partners voice than on all others (and that implies, you better get the right partner with you in the 1st place; otherwise you may have to make do with some ‘fool’).
- Remember that, s/he who is playing all that 3rd party ‘game’, may be just ready to be the one to break & take your love!!! Watch out, be a love-maker (not a breaker or taker); it’s all about who you love, and who loves you!
- Just like I came across the exact information I needed for my Speech at event by ‘chance’, love many times meets us unawares. KeePWaTcH& stay TuNeD!!!
- You may find the following three (3) steps helpful:
#1. Take inventory of your relationship(s). Ask: who do I love and who loves me?
#2. Take a pause from that fellow who loves you but YOU DONT...or the one you love but DOESN’T LOVE YOU BACK...!!!
#3. Take action steps towards the persons you have ‘love confluence’ with after going through assessment #1 and #2 above
NB:NOT ALL YOUR PERCEPTIONS ABOUT WHO YOU LOVE AND WHO LOVES YOU(love confluence) MAYBE 100% CORRECT; BUT SUCH AN EXERCISE AS THIS MAY HELP IN INCREASING THE CHANCES OF BEEN HAPPY AND FULFILLED IN RELATIONSHIPS…!
