TEXT: EXODUS 8:25-32
Key verse: “And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land” ( Exodus 8:25 ).

The main objective of all temptations is to make believers compromise their stand with God. Sometimes, the appeal is direct, at other times it is subtle. Yet, the aim remains unchanged.

Following the fourth plague, that of the swarm of flies, unleashed on the Egyptians by God, Pharaoh made a seemingly significant offer. He encouraged the Israelites to go and worship God “in the land” (Egypt). When Moses rejected this, as it explicitly contravened God's command, Pharaoh again yielded ground, permitting the Israelites to worship God, but “not to go very far away”. Again, Moses saw through this trick and insisted that they “would” go three days' journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord as He would command them.

Every day, we are directly and indirectly tempted to compromise our faith and obedience toward God. Although compromise is sometimes accepted for the sake of peace, any form of compromise that makes you to disobey God or to lower the Christian standard is outrightly wrong and would lead you into trouble with God.

We may sometimes have to endure suffering so as not to compromise our faith. In fact, such trial of our faith ought to bring out the best Christian virtues in us. Never yield to the temptation to compromise your faith. Trust in the Lord, keep to His holy standard, ask for grace to continue the Christian life and believe that as He promised, He will never leave you nor forsake you.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The fruitful always abounds with manifold blessings.
